With a Fine Art background and fascination for the

geography of the land in which I live, I am drawn

to creating monochrome narratives of water, land

and skies within my cylindrical forms.

Pattern and movement energise pieces and, at times

flow between internal and external surfaces allowing

hand and eye to wander.

When placed in groups, a dialogue begins.

Born in Wales, I trained originally as a Printmaker

gaining an Honours degree from Bristol in 1983 before

studying for a PGCE at Christchurch Canterbury,

and embarking on a teaching career in 1994.

I returned home to Wales in 2008 to study for a

Masters Degree in Ceramics at UWIC. This allowed

me time to explore and develop my skills through

a challenging new material.

I began to draw on processes I used when printmaking, and it was here I embarked upon my exploration nto a Sense of Place’ and my relationship with the land in which I was born.

Today, I divide my time between working part time,

still within education and my studio at

Fireworks Clay Studio in Cardiff

I predominantly use the medium of pen and ink with the detail and the building up of shadows and depth with straight lines”.  The actual sizes of the pictures vary enormously. They all, however, no matter how large or small, contain the same singularly detailed and minute focused attention that I feel has become my hallmark.
